"They say depression and intelligence go hand in hand, well this is Einstein and his therapist."
I hate when they say that happiness in intelligent people is rare.
As if: intelegent people see the world as it is. The world is awful. Therefore, intelligent people get depress because of it.
1st: The world is not awful. It has awful things, events and people. Bad shit is always happening in the world. But the world is not awful.
It’s not a paradise either. But it has beautiful locations; millions of species that are interlocked with one another in a delicate balance; small acts of kindness that star an awesome chain reaction between strangers; crazy people who belive in love and still give all of themselves; laughter shared between childhood friends over silly things; evolving science and tecnology.
The world is not awful. It’s beautiful and complex.
2nd: People get depress because of things like our genes, brain chemistry, and medical conditions.
In addition to that, daylight and seasons, social environment, and life events can also play a role in that. A person’s outlook also can influence depression….so as you can see, intellegence is the least factor to lead to depression.
3rd: Thank Odin, that in mist of the depression you have intellegence. As you will then be mnore aware of what’s around you and have a better chance to get healed and see that not everything in the world is shitty.
4th: The most likely reason Einstein was depressive was because he was belittled growing up and few ever belived in him. Even when he was shining. Not because he was intellegent.
This comes from someone who once belived in the phrase above besides having been through awful shit. But then I got my head out of my ass and things started getting better.
Don’t understimate depression. Being sad, bitter and low spirited is not being depressed.
